Translas as the Netherlands’ sole manufacturer of welding guns and has nearly 60 year’s experience in the development and production of articles for the welding process. Translas markets its products under the brand names Translas and 4CE Force via a selective dealer network in more than 40 countries. Translas is a flexible organization with its own marketing, sales, production, and distribution facilities and plays a pioneering role in the development of innovative products. The company focuses on high product quality, contemporary design, and high reliability of supply. The products are developed and manufactured at the location in Nieuwegein.

The company is founded by Mr. John Boer in 1960

The company is founded by Mr. John Boer in 1960. The company, back then called Translas Midden Nederland BV, is at first a trading company. The company imports and trades with welding wire. Kobe Steel is one of the trademarks Translas Midden Nederland sells as an exclusive dealer in the Benelux. At the time, Translas is one of the leading companies in welding wire in the Benelux.

Eric J. Boer, joins the company

.1978.

In this year Eric J. Boer, the oldest of the three sons, joins the company. After long research, Mr John Boer and Eric Boer decide to stop gradually selling their main product - welding wire. The product range has started to change in order to move away from the high competition and low margin welding wire.

The company decides to make a switch.

.1985.

Since manufacturing has always been a dream for Translas, the company decides to make a switch. This is the most important decision for the future of Translas. In this year, Edwin Boer joins the business and founds Translas Production BV. The first semi-automatic machines and presses are purchased and, in the next six months, the first MIG gas nozzles are produced.

Translas Midden Nederland BV merges with Translas Production BV

.1988.

In this year Translas Midden Nederland BV merges with Translas Production BV. It is now much easier to combine the trading and manufacturing part of the business. This is a wise decision in terms of logistics as well.

Jeroen G. Boer joins the family business as well and founds TipWorks BV

.1989.

Another major step in the history of Translas, is the decision to start the manufacturing and assembling of MIG, TIG and Plasma torches. In this year, Jeroen G. Boer joins the family business as well and founds Tipworks BV. His company focuses only on welding torch technology.

Mr. John Boer retires

.1995.

Mr. John Boer retires in 1995 and his three sons take over the lead of the two companies. The focus is now on torches and spare parts technologies. This same year, Translas invests in new high-technology CNC machines.

Translas Production BV and Tipworks BV combine to pave the way for Translas TipWorks BV.

.1998.

Another major step in the history of Translas, is the decision to start the manufacturing and assembling of MIG, TIG and Plasma torches. In this year, Jeroen G. Boer joins the family business as well and founds Tipworks BV. His company focuses only on welding torch technology.
